If you want to change how customer reviews are sorted on WooCommerce product pages, there are two available approaches. Which one applies depends on whether you are using the standard WooCommerce review layout or the enhanced review layout provided by our plugin. Below, we explain both options in detail.

Determine which reviews layout is used

The active reviews layout can be checked in the CusRev plugin settings.

  1. Go to Reviews → Settings → Review Extensions
  2. Locate the Visual Style option

If WooCommerce (basic user interface) is selected, your site is using the default WooCommerce review layout.

If CusRev (enhanced user interface) is selected, your site is using the plugin’s enhanced reviews layout.

Once you know which visual style is active, follow the corresponding instructions below.

WooCommerce (basic user interface)

Even if you are using our reviews plugin, it still relies on the standard WooCommerce review format (built on WordPress comments). This means that all reviews are fundamentally WordPress comments with extra metadata, so the global WordPress comment settings control their sorting and display.

Important:

This method affects all WordPress comments site-wide, not just WooCommerce product reviews.

How to configure it

  1. Go to Settings → Discussion in the WordPress admin menu.

  2. Find the Comment Pagination section.

  3. Adjust the options shown on the screenshot below to control:

    • The order in which comments (reviews) are displayed

    • How comments are paginated on product pages

Any changes made here will apply to WooCommerce reviews as well as other WordPress comments.

CusRev (enhanced user interface)

Our plugin provides its own enhanced review interface. When enabled, it replaces the standard WordPress pagination with a “Show more” button and offers additional control over how reviews are displayed and sorted.

When using the CusRev interface, review sorting can be configured independently from the global WordPress comment settings.

How to configure it

  1. Go to Reviews → Settings → Review Extensions
  2. Make sure CusRev (enhanced user interface) is selected under Visual Style
  3. Use the Default Sorting Order option to choose how reviews are sorted

Note:

The Default Sorting Order setting only applies when the CusRev enhanced interface is enabled. It does not affect the standard WooCommerce review layout.

Additional benefit

With the CusRev enhanced interface, you can not only define the default sorting order but also allow customers to change the sorting themselves directly on the product page. This approach provides greater flexibility and an improved user experience without modifying global WordPress comment settings.
